Iceland 2017: Land of Fire and Ice

Iceland is hands down one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. The mountains, the glaciers, the waterfalls…all straight out of a nature documentary. It was also just nice to go to a place that’s not overflowing with people. Many of the stops that we made while driving were very peaceful and it was so refreshing to just experience quiet beauty for once.

In terms of how I got there, we flew from Dallas, TX to Minneapolis, MN to Reykjavik, Iceland. The flight from Minneapolis to Reykjavik was approx. 6 hours which is not bad at all. It was me, my parents, and our close family friends who we travel with often (7 of us total.) We had a tour guide that drove us around for the week, which I would definitely recommend if you are with a group. The guide was very knowledgeable and the van fit all of our stuff comfortably. And yes, the moms did bring an entire bag each of just Indian snacks that were both subjected to additional security scanning at the airport. Some things never change. Wabi House

Wabi House in Lower Greenville is hands down my favorite ramen place in Dallas. They have one vegetarian ramen dish and it is good.

The veggie ramen consists of noodles, enoki and shiitake mushrooms, snap peas, bok choy, corn, scallion, bamboo shoots and mayu oil. I always like the veggies that come with any ramen bowl but what really needs to be on point is the broth. I love their broth. It has a great earth-y flavor to it and is seasoned perfectly. I like to add an egg on top because I love the flavor of a nice, runny yolk mixed in with the broth.

Chronicles of a Vegetarian

To my fellow vegetarians, I wanted to dedicate a space on my blog to discuss restaurants that I love. Whether they have a lot of vegetarian options or just a single standout dish, I want to share my dining experiences with y’all!

One of the most annoying things about being someone who loves to try new restaurants and foods is that oftentimes there are very few or even zero options for those that have dietary restrictions. I really appreciate the places that have good options and not just the standard salad. I also love substituting items so I will also discuss that when those situations come up.

I would love if y’all shared your experiences or your favorite places to eat as well 🙂

Review: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer

I’m extremely picky about concealer. As someone who does not use liquid foundation daily, I place a lot of importance on having a good concealer. I have searched high and low for the perfect one to cover hyper pigmentation while also looking natural on the skin. A couple years ago, I actually had found one that I really liked and it was a super random one…the Revlon Age-Defying Targeted Dark Spot Concealer. I used this one for years and loved it. I can’t even tell you how many times I have repurchased it. But, then I noticed that many stores were not carrying it anymore and I started to get worried that it would get discontinued. Why does this always happen to me? *Sigh* Continue reading “Review: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer”

Review: Milani Multitasker Face Powder

Our relationship started years ago. I was searching for the perfect foundation and after almost giving up entirely, the Milani Multitasker came into my life. I’ve never been the biggest fan of liquid foundation. High-end, drugstore…you name it, I’ve tried it. It didn’t matter the formulation or the method of applying…I could always feel it on my face and I hated that. Emilynoel83 (OG youtuber) talked about this powder and said it had the coverage of a liquid foundation, so I knew I had to check it out.

Review: EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46

Daily sunscreen usage is one of those things that every skincare expert says is an absolute must to protect your skin and it’s one of the most effective ways in preventing signs of aging. For years and years, I kept hearing this advice but never really took heed because I hated all sunscreens that I tried. Too thick, too smelly, too greasy…the list goes on. I knew of the benefits but I wasn’t willing to risk my skin breaking out so I put off trying to find one that worked, especially since it seemed like I had tried them all.

In a recent trip to Austin, the topic of sunscreen came up between some of my girlfriends and one of them mentioned the EltaMD UV Clear being her absolute favorite. She said she found it through all the amazing reviews it had. I was definitely interested so I looked it up and she was absolutely right…raving reviews. It actually baffled me that somehow this product had gone under my radar, because I am always reading about skincare. I immediately purchased it and after trying it for the first time…never looked back. Continue reading “Review: EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46”

Review: Heimish All Clean Balm

Korean skincare, where have you been all my life? I came across this world of amazing products earlier this year and it’s being wowing me ever since. It seems to me that aside from just creating products with great ingredients in them, they really want you to have a spa-like experience when you are doing your skincare routine. This cleansing balm is no exception.

Review: CeraVe Cleansers

CeraVe has been one of my absolute favorite skincare brands for many, many years. I experiment with a lot of skincare products but my cleansers are something I have never messed around with. I came across this brand when I decided to completely scrap all my harsher products and start from scratch. I wanted to focus on products that were going to be really gentle and hydrating for my skin.

Do note that I use cleansers to actual clean my skin and not for makeup removal. I am a firm believer that removing your makeup and cleaning your skin should be two separate steps. Therefore, I do not discuss the makeup removing abilities of these cleansers because I don’t use them for that purpose. Continue reading “Review: CeraVe Cleansers”

Skincare for Traveling/Planes

I don’t know if others feel this way about flying on a plane, but I hate how gross your face feels afterwards. If I don’t need to be somewhere immediately after landing, I never wear makeup. Instead, I focus on my skincare. Air travel can be very dehydrating and drying for your skin. The cabin is pressurized, meaning that all the air that’s in there once the door closes just gets recycled during the entire flight and it’s typically always dry. I always feel my skin starting to get tight shortly after takeoff and I personally HATE that feeling. My goal now is always to counteract and prevent that feeling by using really hydrating and nourishing products to ensure that I don’t look a zombie upon landing. Skincare Do’s and Don’t

Finding what products work for your skin is a huge trial and error process. I don’t even want to know how much money I have spent on skincare products throughout the years, but it’s a small fortune. When I first got into skincare, information was not as readily available on the Internet and the craze behind reading/writing reviews had not quite started yet. Now I can’t even consider buying something as simple as a can opener without seeing the ratings and reviews it got. So, as information/reviews became more readily available and distributed through blogs, YouTube, and sellers…my love and knowledge for skincare grew as well. I want to share some of my biggest mistakes and successes with you guys and hopefully everyone can take away something from this! Continue reading “Skincare Do’s and Don’t”
